Background
1950. RAF: Operational pilot on fighters and bombers, trained pilots and navigators, flew trials at Boscombe Down.

Responsible for Groundschools on Victor Conversion Unit and University of London Air Squadron.Involved in editing of scripts and making Training Films for the RAF.

1969. BOAC: Pilot, Flight Navigator and CAA Examiner; promoted Captain 

1976. Consultant to BALPA on the Teaching Package sold by Boeing and McDonald Douglas, and member of the BALPA Concord Evaluation Team. When in British Airways seconded to the Royal Air Force Institute of Aviation Medicine at Farnborough to assist and advise on experimental flying to measure the effects of sleep loss on pilot performance.

1982. Consultant to CAA at the formation of the Confidential Human Factors Incident Reporting Programme (CHIRP) and served until 1995.

Consultant to the Technical University of Berlin for development of EUCARE, the voluntary confidential reporting programme for Europe. As Clerk to the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators, presented Company policy by preparation of papers and their presentation at Symposia, at the Houses of Parliament, on Radio and TV.

Assisted with the development of Ground schools at West London Aero Services and London School of Flying. Served as Member of the Flight Operations Group and the Human Factors Group of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Consultant to various legal firms on technical aviation matters. 

Awarded Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air, 1954
