Joined RAF 1943;  qualified as pilot at RAF College Cranwell and flew Mosquitos on 109 Squadron until 1947.  During 1952 –57 was pilot in RAuxAF on 616 and 603 Squadrons.  Graduated from Edinburgh University in 1950 (BSc Eng) and joined Rolls Royce, Derby. Experience gained in development, customer support, engines overhaul and production planning on joint overseas projects.
Set up private consultancy service in 1972 – Aero Engines Economics Ltd.  In 1977 co-founded Prime Mover Maintenance Ltd servicing, repairing and overhauling gas turbines.  The company is now known as the Rolls-Wood Group.
Still active in retirement on the restoration of Meteor and Comet aircraft.
