Annual
Dinner and Gold Medal Award
This is a major event in the BAAC
calendar, and regular attendees need no encouragement to come along.
Apart from the opportunity to enjoy the company of family and friends and
Association colleagues, the Annual Dinner is the perfect venue to entertain
valued clients and business associates.
The recipient of the 2005 BAAC Gold Medal was Sir Charles Masefield, who was presented with the award at the Association’s Annual Dinner.
Sadly, this year’s Annual Dinner had to be postponed at the last minute although we are looking forward to rescheduling this event at the Army and Navy Club later in the year - possibly in October. This is to give us the opportunity to meet with our Members and, most importantly, present the Association's Gold Medal to Allan Winn, Director of Brookland's Museum and past Editor of Flight Magazine. Details and invitations will be posted to all of our Members nearer the date. As before, invitations will extend to non-members as well as guests who are most welcome to come along and join us on this prestigeous event. We look forward to meeting you there!
The Kate and Lawrie Wingfield Award
The Association last awarded the Katie & Lawrie Wingfield Award, comprising a citation and a cheque, to Stuart Frizzel. Mr Frizzel graduated in June 2003 from Loughborough University with a First Class Honours MEng degree in Aeronautical Engineering. The presentation was made by the Wingfield’s son, Philip Wingfield, at the RAFA Air Show at Shoreham, an aerodrome which Lawrie Wingfield and his father had a hand in establishing just over ninety years ago. This a pleasant occasion which the Council plans to repeat in the near future. Members please watch this space and future postings from the Association for further details...
Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Reception
This year's AGM was held on Thursday, 9th February 2006 at the RAF Club. Details
for the 2007 AGM will be posted to the membership nearer the date.
The AGM is always followed by a reception with drinks and food served giving our Members an informal venue to meet fellow Members in a social environment.
Shoreham Airshow
This year's RAFA Airshow at Shoreham is on 17th September 2006 and the Association plans to have repeat the successes of the past and invite our Members and their guests to join us in the Executive Suite which is situated along the flight line giving excellent views of the flying displays. Details will be sent out to members closer to the date but initial indications are that the cost this year will be in the region of £45 - £50 per head to include entrance to the show, private parking with a mini-bus service to and from the Executive Suite, morning tea/coffee and a buffet lunch served in the Marquee.
